Drip Drip Drip Drip Drip....

The stuffing box has been drip drip drip drip dripping...
tightened her up just so...
but not so so tight.
It is important to allow some water to drip through when the propeller is in motion.
There are a few pieces parts that need to be held in place or adjusted.
Russell showing me the way...
The part to stay still is a circular piece held by the channel locks in the pic on the top left. Very important to keep this part still because we don't want to twist and tear the hose sealing the prop as it exits the back of the boat towards the prop. Yup, just behind that blue handled channel lock is yet another thru-hull in the boat; a most important through hull for propulsion purposes in an inboard engine boat!
Keeping the channel locks still, loosen the stuffing box nut clockwise to stern (pics on bottom left and right). Next, twist stuffing box clockwise towards stern. Then, re tighten nut back snug against stuffing box.

Nicely tightened and a quiet night without the bilge pump pumping a cup of water every 15 minutes all night long...
